Business<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It was with great pleasure that the board of RuyDeLacerda welcomed Filipe Morais (PhD), Professor of Government, Leadership, Ethics and Responsibility, Sustainability (ESG), and Business Strategy, who has been at Henley Business School (University of Reading, UK) for almost two decades, for a &#8220;match&#8221; between University and a Family Business.<\/p>\n<p>As in everything in life, there are bridges of connection between the parts, and in Filipe Morais&#8217; case, it started with his roots in Porto, family in Le\u00e7a da Palmeira, being a follower of ACEGE and its values in Business Leadership, its commitment to Sustainability, and his special interest in Family Businesses and their Leadership!<\/p>\n<p>The importance of legacy was immediately addressed, with our founder, Ruy de Lacerda, starting his brilliant business career in 1950 and passing on to the second generation, and then to the third generation, the human aspect of relationships within the company, values with natural rules, people as the central focus of an organization, qualitative and continuous team training, and the way we present ourselves to our Stakeholders (business partners and clients) based on Commercial Ethics.<\/p>\n<p>Today, RuyDeLacerda is a family-based company with professional shared management, focusing on several areas, including Work-Family Balance and the EFR (Family Responsible Company) certification, Family Protocol, Code of Ethics, Commitment to Timely Payments, Sustainability, and ESG Governance Code (Environmental, Social, and Governance practices). These are all part of the legacy we received from our founder and have been updated over time, but where Humanism, People, and Ethics remain pillars of our actions. In 2024, we celebrate 75 years of positive existence, recognition, and attractiveness in retaining our employees.<\/p>\n<p>Filipe Morais (PhD) shared his thoughts on the visit to RuyDeLacerda: &#8220;Thank you once again for the warm welcome at RuyDeLacerda. I was impressed by the Humanism, Integrity, and Humility (the humility to listen and learn, without overshadowing others) of RuyDeLacerda&#8217;s leadership, but also by the pursuit of innovation and excellence in products and services. The foundations of RuyDeLacerda are deep and healthy. I will reach out again to write a case study about you \u2013 if you allow me!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Many more topics were discussed in this excellent meeting, where the \u201cbusiness focus\u201d should center around the \u201cbusiness model,\u201d striving for \u201cexcellence\u201d to achieve \u201csuccess,\u201d without the distortion of seeking quick success to reach excellence. In the business world, life experience on the shop floor is a key knowledge factor.
