A Drupa, sendo o maior evento a n\u00edvel internacional para a ind\u00fastria gr\u00e1fica, aglomera imensas empresas diferentes que trazem e exibem para o mercado as suas novas tecnologias.<\/p>\n

\u201cA Sakata INX abrange praticamente todas as tecnologias de tintas, pelo que h\u00e1 segmentos da nossa atividade que s\u00e3o mais inovadores, outros que s\u00e3o mais maduros do ponto de vista tecnol\u00f3gico, mas mesmo naqueles que s\u00e3o mais maduros, vemos tend\u00eancias de mercado ou novas aplica\u00e7\u00f5es condicionadas por aspectos externos, como a proibi\u00e7\u00e3o da utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de determinadas mat\u00e9rias-primas ou quest\u00f5es regulamentares, o que significa que estamos sempre a ter de desenvolver novas tecnologias ou aplica\u00e7\u00f5es semelhantes \u00e0 tecnologia que temos.\u201d afirma o Sr. Javier Bou.<\/p>\n

\u201cAqui na drupa temos v\u00e1rios produtos que est\u00e3o tecnologicamente na vanguarda e \u00e9 dif\u00edcil introduzi-los no mercado. Fazemo-los chegar diretamente ao mercado, contactando diretamente o cliente ou atrav\u00e9s de parcerias com empresas do sector.\u201d – acrescenta.<\/p>\n

Quando questionado acerca da forma como a Sakata INX combina as aplica\u00e7\u00f5es dos seus produtos, com a inova\u00e7\u00e3o e a necessidade de ser mais sustent\u00e1vel, o Sr. Javier explica: \u201cMesmo as tecnologias de impress\u00e3o mais maduras obrigam-nos a fazer novos desenvolvimentos ou ajustes condicionados pelas tend\u00eancias de sustentabilidade. N\u00e3o h\u00e1 d\u00favida de que a Europa \u00e9 a mais avan\u00e7ada do mundo em termos de sustentabilidade, uma vez que tem requisitos mais exigentes, o que nos obriga a estar totalmente actualizados em rela\u00e7\u00e3o a esses requisitos e, portanto, a ter a capacidade de inovar o nosso produto para satisfazer esses novos requisitos.\u201d<\/p>\n

Como um C-Level na Sakata INX, questionamos o Sr. Javier acerca da forma como equilibra a parte t\u00e9cnica e de inova\u00e7\u00e3o, com a parte humana, de gest\u00e3o de compet\u00eancias.<\/p>\n

Perspectivas para Portugal<\/strong><\/p>\n

Abordando o tema de Portugal, perguntamos ao Sr. Javier acerca das rela\u00e7\u00f5es e expectativas da Sakata INX para o Pa\u00eds. \u201cSempre tivemos expectativas porque \u00e9 um pa\u00eds que est\u00e1 pr\u00f3ximo de n\u00f3s, a log\u00edstica \u00e9 muito importante na nossa atividade. \u00c9 um mercado em que come\u00e7\u00e1mos recentemente a colaborar com a Ruy de Lacerda, h\u00e1 dois anos e meio e temos expectativas. \u00c9 de facto dif\u00edcil competir porque conhecemos o mercado, sabemos que os nossos concorrentes est\u00e3o l\u00e1 a trabalhar h\u00e1 muito tempo e bem, portanto n\u00e3o \u00e9 f\u00e1cil entrar quando os outros j\u00e1 l\u00e1 est\u00e3o.\u201d<\/p>\n

Acerca da parceria com a Ruy de Lacerda, o Sr. Javier explica tamb\u00e9m: \u201cPara convencer um cliente que j\u00e1 est\u00e1 a utilizar uma tinta que n\u00e3o \u00e9 nossa a mudar para a nossa tinta, \u00e9 preciso oferecer algo diferente. Podemos competir em termos de pre\u00e7o, mas essa n\u00e3o \u00e9 a nossa estrat\u00e9gia. Podemos competir em termos de qualidade, de desempenho, de servi\u00e7o t\u00e9cnico e, para isso, \u00e9 essencial trabalhar com um parceiro local. Podemos fornecer um bom produto, uma boa tecnologia, mas no final, o contacto final com o cliente \u00e9 atrav\u00e9s da Ruy de Lacerda. Quanto mais tecnol\u00f3gico \u00e9 o produto, mais necessidade h\u00e1 dessa colabora\u00e7\u00e3o. A colabora\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 necess\u00e1ria e s\u00f3 com essa contribui\u00e7\u00e3o de um bom produto e uma boa assist\u00eancia local \u00e9 poss\u00edvel crescer no mercado.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sakata INX – Iberian and International Market Outlook – Mr Javier Bou<\/strong><\/p>\n

The industrial coatings sector is going through a period of great change, due to technological innovations, sustainability demands from customers and consumers and legislative changes.<\/p>\n

With our presence at the 2024 edition of Drupa, we had the pleasure of talking to Mr Javier Bou, General Manager of Sakata INX’s production unit in Spain, with whom we had the opportunity to discuss topics such as the future of the industry, the importance of sustainability for Sakata INX, the technological innovations associated with this and the outlook for the Portuguese market.<\/p>\n

“Sakata INX is an excellent technical and strategic partner, thanks to its future-orientated vision of sustainability. Collaborating with Sakata INX is an excellent opportunity for us to take positive steps towards a greener future, as no other company offers such environmentally friendly products with such high technical quality.” – says Jos\u00e9 Quintino, Chief Sales Officer at Ruy de Lacerda.<\/p>\n

With a degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mr Javier Bou began his professional journey in the automotive sector, where he spent 16 years with a French multinational. After this experience, he decided to dedicate himself to the paint sector, where he has been working for Sakata INX for 17 years.<\/p>\n

Sakata INX’s technological innovations at Drupa<\/strong><\/p>\n

As the largest international event for the printing industry, Drupa brings together many different companies to showcase their new technologies.<\/p>\n

“Sakata INX covers practically all ink technologies, so there are segments of our activity that are more innovative, others that are more mature from a technological point of view, but even in those that are more mature, we see market trends or new applications conditioned by external aspects, such as bans on the use of certain raw materials or regulatory issues, which means that we are always having to develop new technologies or applications similar to the technology we have.” says Mr Javier Bou.<\/p>\n

“Here at drupa we have several products that are technologically at the cutting edge and it’s difficult to introduce them to the market. We bring them directly to the market by contacting the customer directly or through partnerships with companies in the sector.” – he adds.<\/p>\n

As a leading company in the paint industry, Sakata INX is always at the forefront of technological innovations, bringing paints with innovative features that aim to mark the future of the industry.<\/p>\n

To do this, it invests heavily in innovation and technology, as it confirms: “More than 250 development specialists and technicians work at Sakata, providing global support to the different production units. Obviously, at our plant in Spain we have the necessary number of specialised chemists to support our customers, but at a global level, this has always been one of the group’s main focuses.”<\/p>\n

Sustainability in the ink industry<\/strong><\/p>\n

When asked how Sakata INX combines the applications of its products with innovation and the need to be more sustainable, Mr Javier explains: “Even the most mature printing technologies force us to make new developments or adjustments conditioned by sustainability trends. There is no doubt that Europe is the most advanced in the world in terms of sustainability, as it has more demanding requirements, which obliges us to be fully up to date with these requirements and therefore to have the ability to innovate our product to meet these new requirements.”<\/p>\n

Innovation in this sector must be continuous, driven by factors such as environmental regulations that require the development of new technologies and the adaptation or evolution of existing technologies for a greener and more sustainable future.<\/p>\n

People and Resource Management<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a C-Level at Sakata INX, we asked Mr Javier about how he balances the technical and innovation side with the human, skills management side.<\/p>\n

“A company’s main capital is its people, and not just the people who work in the technology-orientated company, but also in logistics, in production, in any area of the company, people are fundamental and the right balance between the resources you dedicate to one area and another is what allows you to grow in a sustainable way.” – he says.<\/p>\n

As a global company with more than 120 years of history and 5,000 employees, people management is essential, especially at an intercultural level, adapting to the diversity of values and traditions of each country in which they operate.<\/p>\n

Prospects for Portugal<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the subject of Portugal, we asked Mr Javier about Sakata INX’s relations and expectations for the country. “We’ve always had expectations because it’s a country that’s close to us, logistics is very important in our business. It’s a market in which we recently started collaborating with Ruy de Lacerda, two and a half years ago, and we have expectations. It’s really difficult to compete because we know the market, we know that our competitors have been working there for a long time and well, so it’s not easy to enter when others are already there.”<\/p>\n

About the partnership with Ruy de Lacerda, Mr Javier also explains: “To convince a customer who is already using a paint that isn’t ours to switch to our paint, you have to offer something different. We can compete on price, but that’s not our strategy. We can compete in terms of quality, performance and technical service, and for that it’s essential to work with a local partner. We can provide a good product, good technology, but in the end, the final contact with the customer is through Ruy de Lacerda. The more technological the product, the more need there is for collaboration. Collaboration is necessary and only with this contribution of a good product and good local assistance is it possible to grow in the market.”<\/p>\n

Sakata INX<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sakata INX is the third largest paint manufacturer on the planet. Founded in 1896 in Osaka, Japan, it expanded globally in the 1980s, establishing production plants in Taiwan, Spain and the United States. It currently employs more than 5,000 people around the world.<\/p>\n

In recent decades it has accelerated its growth and is now the benchmark company for sustainable and environmentally friendly paints. Around 95 per cent of Sakata INX’s paint sales are environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n
