Neste contexto a economia circular \u00e9 um modelo de produ\u00e7\u00e3o e consumo que envolve a reutiliza\u00e7\u00e3o, repara\u00e7\u00e3o, renova\u00e7\u00e3o e reciclagem de materiais e produtos existentes, de forma a prolongar o ciclo de vida dos produtos.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1866\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">A economia circular implica a redu\u00e7\u00e3o do desperd\u00edcio e dos res\u00edduos ao m\u00ednimo, mantendo os materiais dentro da economia, quando um produto chega ao fim do seu ciclo de vida. Desta forma podem ser utilizados mais do que uma vez, o que permite criar mais valor. N\u00e3o engloba s\u00f3 a reciclagem e gest\u00e3o de res\u00edduos, pois \u00e9 um conceito amplo, que inclui o redesenho de processos, produtos e novos modelos de neg\u00f3cio, e otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o na utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de recursos. Visa assim o desenvolvimento de novos produtos e servi\u00e7os economicamente vi\u00e1veis e ecologicamente eficientes.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1867\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Neste artigo abordamos a import\u00e2ncia da Economia Circular para as empresas, e como a adapta\u00e7\u00e3o a este modelo, que \u00e9 sem d\u00favida o futuro econ\u00f3mico a n\u00edvel global, pode trazer benef\u00edcios para as empresas e economias dos pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Redu\u00e7\u00e3o da depend\u00eancia de importa\u00e7\u00f5es<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1869\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">As empresas podem beneficiar extremamente deste modelo, gra\u00e7as \u00e0 redu\u00e7\u00e3o de depend\u00eancia por mat\u00e9rias primas, mitigando os riscos associados \u00e0 oferta, como a volatilidade de pre\u00e7os, disponibilidade e depend\u00eancia das importa\u00e7\u00f5es. Segundo a Eurostat, a Uni\u00e3o Europeia importa cerca de metade das mat\u00e9rias primas que consome. Isto \u00e9 extremamente prejudicial para as estrat\u00e9gias das empresas, que encontram obst\u00e1culos inesperados devido a raz\u00f5es externas \u00e0 UE, como conflitos pol\u00edticos ou bloqueios e acidentes nos transportes.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1870\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">\u00c0 medida que a popula\u00e7\u00e3o mundial aumenta, e as economias se uniformizam em n\u00edveis de desenvolvimento, os pa\u00edses tendem a priorizar as necessidades de mat\u00e9rias primas das ind\u00fastrias locais, antes de exportar essas mat\u00e9rias para outros pa\u00edses. Com uma maior autonomia no sourcing das mat\u00e9rias primas, as empresas podem garantir uma atividade sustent\u00e1vel, independentemente de fatores pol\u00edticos internacionais.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Melhoria da competitividade da economia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1872\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">A economia circular veio para ficar, estando a Uni\u00e3o Europeia a implementar medidas e legisla\u00e7\u00e3o que visam incentivar e apoiar as empresas na ado\u00e7\u00e3o de medidas mais sustent\u00e1veis. Em mar\u00e7o de 2020 a Comiss\u00e3o Europeia apresentou o Plano de A\u00e7\u00e3o para a Economia Circular, no qual foi adotada, em fevereiro de 2021, uma resolu\u00e7\u00e3o que exige medidas adicionais para alcan\u00e7ar uma economia neutra em termos de carbono e totalmente circular at\u00e9 2050, incluindo metas obrigat\u00f3rias para a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o e consumo de materiais at\u00e9 2030. Em mar\u00e7o de 2022 a Comiss\u00e3o Europeia lan\u00e7ou o primeiro pacote de medidas para acelerar a transi\u00e7\u00e3o para uma economia circular.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1873\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">As empresas que se mant\u00eam atentas a estes requisitos, e que, proativamente, implementam as medidas de economia circular, desfrutam das vantagens de \u201cfirst mover\u201d, ou seja, obt\u00eam vantagens competitivas antes dos seus concorrentes. Todas as empresas ter\u00e3o de adotar medidas mais sustent\u00e1veis e de economia circular no futuro, logo, aquelas que tomam j\u00e1 os primeiros passos, estar\u00e3o \u00e0 frente da sua concorr\u00eancia no futuro.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Cria\u00e7\u00e3o de empregos<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1875\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">A transi\u00e7\u00e3o para uma economia circular pode ainda aumentar a competitividade, estimular a inova\u00e7\u00e3o, incentivar o crescimento econ\u00f3mico e gerar empregos. Segundo estudos recentes, e dados da Uni\u00e3o Europeia, a economia circular pode contribuir para um aumento de 0,5% do PIB da UE, e a cria\u00e7\u00e3o de 700.000 novos postos de trabalho at\u00e9 2030. Entre 2012 e 2018, o n\u00famero de postos de trabalho relacionados com a economia circular na UE cresceu 5%, atingindo cerca de 4 milh\u00f5es.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Estabelecimento de novas rela\u00e7\u00f5es com os consumidores<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1877\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Um dos principais fatores que impulsiona a economia circular \u00e9 as exig\u00eancias da sociedade em geral pela sustentabilidade. Os indiv\u00edduos est\u00e3o cada vez mais atentos ao impacto das atividades industriais no ambiente, exigindo um futuro mais verde.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1878\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">As empresas que lideram na ado\u00e7\u00e3o das medidas da economia circular, s\u00e3o vistas com mais respeito, desenvolvendo desta forma uma imagem mais positiva com a sociedade em geral. Para al\u00e9m disso, programas de retoma, apoio \u00e0 reutiliza\u00e7\u00e3o e incentivo \u00e0 repara\u00e7\u00e3o s\u00e3o excelentes formas de desenvolver rela\u00e7\u00f5es mais longas e duradouras com os clientes.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Prote\u00e7\u00e3o do ambiente<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1880\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Um dos pilares principais da economia circular \u00e9 a prote\u00e7\u00e3o do ambiente. Toda a redu\u00e7\u00e3o de consumo de mat\u00e9rias primas e reutiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de materiais, ajuda a retardar o uso dos recursos naturais.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1881\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">As atividades humanas t\u00eam, sem d\u00favida, impacto no ambiente. S\u00f3 com um grande esfor\u00e7o por parte de todos os membros da sociedade \u00e9 que conseguimos proteger as paisagens, habitats e limitar a perda de biodiversidade. N\u00f3s, como indiv\u00edduos, somos parte do ambiente, e qualquer impacto que as nossas atividades tenham sobre a natureza que nos envolve, acaba tamb\u00e9m por impactar as nossas vidas.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1882\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Outro benef\u00edcio da economia circular consiste na redu\u00e7\u00e3o de emiss\u00e3o de gases com efeito de estufa. Segundo a Ag\u00eancia Europeia do Ambiente, os processos industriais s\u00e3o respons\u00e1veis por 9,10% das emiss\u00f5es de gases com efeito de estufa na UE, enquanto que a gest\u00e3o de res\u00edduos representa 3,32% das emiss\u00f5es.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>O futuro<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1884\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">A economia circular n\u00e3o \u00e9 apenas uma tend\u00eancia passageira; \u00e9 uma necessidade urgente para a sustentabilidade a longo prazo da ind\u00fastria global. In\u00fameras empresas j\u00e1 incluem objetivos de sustentabilidade e ado\u00e7\u00e3o de medidas de economia circular nos seus planos de m\u00e9dio e longo prazo.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1885\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Como parte da Uni\u00e3o Europeia, as ind\u00fastrias em Portugal devem come\u00e7ar a adotar estas medidas, de forma a contribuir para os objetivos europeus e a seguir as legisla\u00e7\u00f5es atuais e futuras que a UE implementar\u00e1 nesta \u00e1rea.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1886\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Na Ruy de Lacerda estamos sempre atentos ao futuro e a qualquer altera\u00e7\u00e3o ou inova\u00e7\u00e3o que possam revolucionar o setor da reciclagem e da economia circular. industry<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1892\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">The global economy faces significant challenges with the scarcity of natural resources, climate change and the need to promote environmental sustainability. In this context, the circular economy is a model of production and consumption that involves the reuse, repair, renovation and recycling of existing materials and products in order to extend the life cycle of products.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1893\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">The circular economy involves minimising waste and residues, keeping materials within the economy when a product reaches the end of its life cycle. In this way they can be used more than once, which creates more value. It doesn&#8217;t just encompass recycling and waste management, as it is a broad concept that includes redesigning processes, products and new business models, and optimising the use of resources. It thus aims to develop new products and services that are economically viable and ecologically efficient.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1894\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">In this article we discuss the importance of the Circular Economy for companies, and how adapting to this model, which is undoubtedly the economic future at global level, can bring benefits to companies and countries&#8217; economies.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Reduced dependence on imports<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1896\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Companies can benefit greatly from this model, thanks to the reduction in dependence on raw materials, mitigating the risks associated with supply, such as price volatility, availability and dependence on imports. According to Eurostat, the European Union imports around half of the raw materials it consumes. This is extremely detrimental to companies&#8217; strategies, which encounter unexpected obstacles due to reasons outside the EU, such as political conflicts or transport blockades and accidents.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1897\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">As the world&#8217;s population increases and economies become more standardised in terms of development, countries tend to prioritise the raw material needs of local industries before exporting these materials to other countries. With greater autonomy in the sourcing of raw materials, companies can guarantee sustainable activity, regardless of international political factors.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Improving the competitiveness of the economy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1899\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">The circular economy is here to stay and the European Union is implementing measures and legislation to encourage and support companies in adopting more sustainable measures. In March 2020 the European Commission presented the Circular Economy Action Plan, in which a resolution was adopted in February 2021 calling for additional measures to achieve a carbon-neutral and fully circular economy by 2050, including mandatory targets for the use and consumption of materials by 2030. In March 2022, the European Commission launched the first package of measures to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1900\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Companies that keep an eye on these requirements and proactively implement circular economy measures enjoy \u2018first mover\u2019 advantages, i.e. they gain competitive advantages ahead of their competitors. All companies will have to adopt more sustainable and circular economy measures in the future, so those that take the first steps now will be ahead of their competition in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Job creation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1902\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">The transition to a circular economy can also increase competitiveness, stimulate innovation, encourage economic growth and create jobs. According to recent studies and European Union data, the circular economy could contribute to a 0.5 per cent increase in the EU&#8217;s GDP and the creation of 700,000 new jobs by 2030. Between 2012 and 2018, the number of jobs related to the circular economy in the EU grew by 5% to around 4 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Establishing new relationships with consumers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1904\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">One of the main factors driving the circular economy is the demands of society in general for sustainability. Individuals are increasingly aware of the impact of industrial activities on the environment, demanding a greener future.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1905\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Companies that lead the way in adopting circular economy measures are viewed with more respect, thus developing a more positive image with society in general. In addition, take-back programmes, support for reuse and incentives for repair are excellent ways of developing longer-lasting relationships with customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Protecting the environment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1907\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">One of the main pillars of the circular economy is environmental protection. Any reduction in the consumption of raw materials and the reuse of materials helps to slow down the use of natural resources.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1908\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Human activities undoubtedly have an impact on the environment. It is only with a great effort on the part of all members of society that we can protect landscapes, habitats and limit the loss of biodiversity. We, as individuals, are part of the environment, and any impact our activities have on the nature that surrounds us also ends up impacting our lives.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1909\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Another benefit of the circular economy is the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. According to the European Environment Agency, industrial processes are responsible for 9.10 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions in the EU, while waste management accounts for 3.32 per cent of emissions.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>The future<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1911\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">The circular economy is not just a passing trend; it is an urgent necessity for the long-term sustainability of global industry. Numerous companies already include sustainability objectives and the adoption of circular economy measures in their medium and long-term plans.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1912\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">As part of the European Union, industries in Portugal must start adopting these measures in order to contribute to European objectives and follow the current and future legislation that the EU will implement in this area.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember1913\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">At Ruy de Lacerda we are always on the lookout for the future and any changes or innovations that could revolutionise the recycling sector and the circular economy.
