♻️ How much recycled plastic does it take to make a t-shirt or a chair?

The circular economy is no longer a trend, it’s a necessity. But knowing how many plastic bottles are needed to produce a t-shirt or a chair helps us understand the real impact of our choices.

👕 A t-shirt made from recycled plastic? Yes, it’s possible.
More and more brands are adopting fibres made from PET bottles.
On average, it takes 5 to 10 bottles (500 ml each) to produce one t-shirt.
The plastic is shredded, washed, extruded, and spun into textile fibre.
This process uses less water and energy than traditional cotton production and significantly reduces landfill waste.

🪑 And a chair? How many bottles does it take?
A simple chair made from recycled plastic may require 1.5 to 3 kg of material, the equivalent of 150 to 300 bottles.
In many cases, a mix of post-consumer and industrial plastics is used to ensure greater strength, durability, and functionality in the final product.

🌍 Why do these numbers matter?
Because they make sustainability more tangible.
Every plastic bottle we recycle has the potential to become something useful, in what we wear, in what we use, in what we choose.
